Happy New Year
Everyone, I thank you for reading and commenting. I hope you have a healthy and happy 2009.
Management, especially good management, is hard to do. This blog is for people who want to think about how they manage people, projects, and risk.

I don’t normally pay much attention to these kinds of things, but what the heck, this will give Jurgen a link back.
Jurgen has collated the Top 100 Blogs for Development Managers (Q3 2008). I have no idea if he will continue to do this quarter after quarter (!). I’m glad that other people find this blog valuable. Thank you, dear readers, for reading and commenting.
The good thing about this list is that now I have more blogs to consider reading. That’s also the bad thing :-)
I’ve been using BackUpWordPress to backup my blogs. I successfully upgraded Hiring Technical People to a newer version of WP and of BackUpWordPress. I upgraded this blog, Managing Product Development, to the newer version of WP, but now my newer version of BackUpWordPress is not working. I’m pretty sure it’s all about file permissions.
If you have experience with this and insight, please email me, jr at jrothman dot com. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong and want to keep backing up! Thanks.
I have finally gone back through all of my older blog entries and attached tags to them. This should help if you think you read something here, and can’t remember exactly what it was called.
In the past couple of weeks, I’ve migrated from Blogger to WordPress (with the excellent help of Kim Black). I expect you can still read the blog and that the feeds are still coming through. If you’d like to update to the new addresses, here they are:
Managing Product Development is now at http://jrothman.com/blog/mpd/
The feed is at http://jrothman.com/blog/mpd/feed
Several months ago, Hal Macomber sent me a brief email,
Great book cover. Do a redesign of your website.
I’ve started. I’ve updated this blog design and added more links to my blogroll. More to come (slowly).

A number of people still subscribe to this blog with an email subscription. I had used Bloglet to do process the emails, but the service didn’t always work. And to be fair, Bloglet was a free labor of love :-)
I’m now using Feedblitz, assuming I didn’t make any mistakes. As always, feel free to use an RSS reader insteaf of emails. But if you like emails, Feedblitz should work.
If you’ve ever tried to look at my articles page, you know how hard it was to find anything. Well, my updated version of the site is finally up. I have a few broken links, which I expect to fix, hardware willing, in the next week or so. If you find anything broken, do let me know.
Just because I’ve been quiet doesn’t mean I haven’t been working. I’ve posted two project management templates, the project charter template and the project plan template at my Templates page.
The AYE blog is up and running. I have more work to do on the template, but I hope you check it out. (If anyone reading this has attended AYE and you have a blog, please send me an email, so we can link to you.)
